Whatever it symbolizes for my peers though, is not a small thing... for some it crosses a line and forces them into a mind space where scary thoughts like 'brutality,' 'too far,' and even 'wrong,' manage to creep in and get heard and worried about.... for others it's barely a shoulder shrug. Severity is what we most need for our emotional healing and catharsis... and you are so right about the flesh not always holding up to those needs. Yes, the pic is hard to look at but it reminds me of how deep my pain, my want, my need can sometimes run... deeper than such visual and visible marks could ever reach. Mel's butt would seep after some very intense play, and my butt was a lot worse after a severe birching at the Orphanage.
